Show Set-Up:
We will set up the show on Wednesday, April 25th, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will hang artwork for the show Thursday, April 26th, from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Doors close at b9:00 p.m. SHARP! It is expected that show participants come to the club on Wednesday, April 25th to assist with the show set-up.

Acrylic Mixed Media & Ink with Janice Brown
Saturday & Sunday, February 25 & 26; 10 am – 4 pm Develop your skills in abstract painting and find new ways to work acrylics. In this productive workshop you’ll complete three to four paintings over the course of the weekend. On day one, create the layout for your pieces. On day two, you will blend colour and finish your pieces with ink, then stand back as you see your art change in front of your eyes. Course Fee: $175 includes lunch

Congratulations to Cheryl Bannister
Cheryl won the Juror’s Choice GOLD Award in the Toronto Water Colour Societys Fall juried show. She also won the winning painting for this year’s Spring Art Show, which will be the door prize for some lucky visitor.

Ajax Creative Arts rents the Pickering Village Community Centre from the Town of Ajax on Wednesdays from NOON to FOUR P.M. – Thursdays from NOON to FOUR P.M. and on Thursday evening from SIX P.M. till TEN P.M. Members should not be using the facility at any other time.

Ontario Shores Red Hot Juried Art Show
Artists are invited to submit works for consideration for the art show. The works should ideally demonstrate both the visual possibilities inherent in art – the element and principle, especially shape, color, balance, movement and unity.

Ajax Friends of the Library have put together another exciting season of great films.
One Wednesday a month @ 7:00 p.m., from September to May (except December), Ajax Cineplex Odeon
Join us for another exciting season of independent movies at Ajax Cineplex Odeon!
Show tickets go on sale the day after the previous month’s movie. Individual tickets are $7.00 in advance at all library branches or $7.50 at the theatre – just visit the Friends’ Film Circuit table in the theatre lobby on the day of the show.

Is offering a one day workshop, in Relief Printmaking(without a press)
March 3, 2012, 10 am to 4 pm
At the Ajax Creative Arts Club (Sherwood & Linton Sts., Ajax)
$40/person, minimum 8 people
$50/person non-members of ACA
We will cover the basic materials, processes, variouspossibilities, become familiar with the tools and create at least one printing plate from which to make prints.
Provided:
all printing inks (water-based)
lino-cutting knives, various mark-making tools
styro pieces (for creating printing plates)
brayers (soft rollers for inking)
inking plates (glass/plexi)
barens, wooden spoons (for printing)
various papers – for trial prints
decorative, acid-free paper and glue sticks for “ChineColle”
books and reference materials (for inspiration!)
a handout of basic supplies and where they are available
You should bring:
smock, apron or painting shirt
lunch
drawings or design ideas!
Optional (available at Curry’s or other art supply stores)
lino cutting knives (1 handle with 5 different shaped blades) and craft knife
“softoleum” – or other brand of easy-to-cut lino
brayers- soft rollers (beige not black) – varying widths 2”, 4”, 6”
any special papers (acid-free is best), note cards (for printing)
tracing paper for transferring designs to be cut
6” square piece of ½” birch veneer plywood for making a wood-cut (it can be cut into with the lino knives – but you’ll need to be careful, use a “bench-hook”!)
