Past President Don Piggot hands over the keys to the incoming president Margaret Farrar.

Tribute to Don Piggot.

By Pam Auguste

President 1995 – – 1997

President 2009 — 2011

Don and Isabel Piggott have devoted nearly 25 years to the Ajax creative arts.

As president, Don led the club in many new directions. He encouraged us to start workshops and attended every class with Isabel.

We went on trips to galleries, museums even on painting trips in Canada and overseas.

Thank you Don for coming to our aid as president in 2009 – – 2011. Even though you really wanted a little quieter, more relaxed life. You helped us when we could not find anyone to take the helm.

Thank you, Don and Isabel, from your friends at Ajax creative arts.

Thanks from the Sales Desk.

By Mary Lumb

Thank you to all the artists who volunteered to work the show, especially our new members  who did cash register and Visa authorization, worked in the sales desk and did many extra shifts to cover the weekend.

Thanks to the artists  who volunteered for the demos. They were a very nice added feature.

A very special thanks to Kim Robertson and Cheryl Helferty, who logged all the sales into another computer, after mine lost its hard drive. I was very grateful for all the help,

Also a very special thanks to Melva Adams who picked up and returned the cash register, and was there all weekend to give assistance, even though she was not in the show.

Artists who submitted cards, please check your cards to see if you picked up someone else’s cards by mistake, as some are reported missing.

Thanks to our show convener, Irene Leach, who did another outstanding job organizing the show — and also to her daughter Kim who let us use her e-mail to keep in contact with Irene and keep us all calm and in the loop.

 Cyril Cox

On November 23rd, the club had a farewell cake and coffee/tea for Cyril Cox who is moving to Peterborough.

Cyril was presented with a small token of the club’s appreciation for his tireless patience with all of us looking over his shoulder. For his quiet instruction for beginner artists, giving them insight as to the wonders of oil and acrylic painting.

We hope that Cyril will be able to drop in to the club for a visit from time-to-time.

Town of Ajax — St. Francis Center for Community Arts and Culture

Saturday, September 17

From 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, Don Hightower, Pam Auguste, Cheryl Bannister and Fred Smith displayed their paintings — loosely themed as heritage or culture.

This small show was held in the foyer. We acquainted the public with our art, provided information about Ajax Creative Arts and the October Art Show.

Many people attended and collected the show flyers. We gave out 40 show flyers and 40 membership forms.

We shared the foyer with 400 delicious, decorated cupcakes, thanks to Cupcakes Canada. Nonalcoholic apple wine was served. There was a huge audience.

Our deepest  condolences  to Margaret Farrar and Family on the passing away of her brother.

Member’s Corner

Members are reminded that we need to share a table with a friend.

—————–

Members should remember to wash and put their cups and cutlery away in the cupboard before they leave.

—————–

Keep those cakes and cookies coming in. Lack of sweets inhibits creativity.

—————–

Members are reminded to please read the bulletin board at the club every time they come for posted upcoming events.

—————–

If you are the last person to leave the building at the end of the day. please check to make sure that the front door is locked.

—————–

General Announcements are made at the club every Wednesday at 1 pm – if you have an item to be announced, please let Margaret Farrar know.

We are Grateful for your Membership
