Ajax Creative Arts has been part of the community since 1966. Starting as a group of friends that met at each others house and evolved to a thriving art club with close to 150 members.
We are a group dedicated to the promotion of visual art within our community and the encouragement of our fellow members.
We are a unique club that meets three times a week at the Old Courthouse in Pickering Village where we have lunch, paint and interact with each other.
We offer a lending library, framing and matting equipment, a cup of tea and a friendly atmosphere.
The club hosts two art shows a year, one in the spring and one in the fall at 22 Sherwood Road at Linton, in Pickering Village.

A Summarized Version of our Club History
In 1966, Bill Barron & Doris Boyd opened “The Little Gallery” in Ajax where local original art was showcased. Opening night was the beginning of Ajax Creative Arts.
In 1968, Pickering Creative Arts was formed and one year later the clubs joined forces and found a home at the Little Red Schoolhouse on Pickering Beach Road and called
themselves “Ajax-Pickering Creative Arts”.
In 1974 the towns of Ajax and Pickering restructured and the group became known as Ajax Creative Arts. We spent the next ten years at the schoolhouse until it was finally torn down and we no longer had a home.
The club moved to Pickering Village in 1990, our present home at the “Old Courthouse” where we remain to this day.
Some of the original members are still active at the club.
