<h1>Acrylic Mixed Media &amp; Ink with Janice Brown</h1>
<p>Saturday &amp; Sunday, February 25 &amp; 26; 10 am – 4 pm Develop your skills in abstract painting and find new ways to work acrylics. In this productive workshop you’ll complete three to four paintings over the course of the weekend. On day one, create the layout for your pieces. On day two, you will blend colour and finish your pieces with ink, then stand back as you see your art change in front of your eyes. Course Fee: $175 includes lunch</p>

<p>Cheryl won the Juror&#8217;s Choice GOLD Award in the Toronto Water Colour Societys Fall juried show. She also won the winning painting for this year&#8217;s Spring Art Show, which will be the door prize for some lucky visitor.</p>

<p>Ajax Creative Arts rents the Pickering Village Community Centre from the Town of Ajax on Wednesdays from NOON to FOUR P.M. &#8211; Thursdays from NOON to FOUR P.M. and on Thursday evening from SIX P.M. till TEN P.M. Members should not be using the facility at any other time. </p>

<h1>Ontario Shores Red Hot Juried Art Show</h1>

<p>Ajax Friends of the Library have put together another exciting season of great films.</p>
<p>One Wednesday a month @ 7:00 p.m., from September to May (except December), Ajax Cineplex Odeon<br />
Join us for another exciting season of independent movies at Ajax Cineplex Odeon!</p>
<p>Show tickets go on sale the day after the previous month&#8217;s movie.  Individual tickets are $7.00 in advance at all library branches or $7.50 at the theatre &#8211; just visit the Friends&#8217; Film Circuit table in the theatre lobby on the day of the show.<br />

<p>Is offering a one day workshop, in Relief Printmaking(without a press)<br />
March 3, 2012, 10 am to 4 pm<br />
At the Ajax Creative Arts Club (Sherwood &#038; Linton Sts., Ajax)</p>
<p>$40/person, minimum 8 people<br />
$50/person non-members of ACA </p>
<p>We will cover the basic materials, processes, variouspossibilities, become familiar with the tools and create at least one printing plate from which to make prints.<br />
Provided:</p>
<p>all printing inks (water-based)<br />
lino-cutting knives, various mark-making tools<br />
styro pieces (for creating printing plates)<br />
brayers (soft rollers for inking)<br />
inking plates (glass/plexi)<br />
barens, wooden spoons (for printing)<br />
various papers – for trial prints<br />
decorative, acid-free paper and glue sticks for “ChineColle”<br />
books and reference materials (for inspiration!)<br />
a handout of basic supplies and where they are available<br />
You should bring:<br />
smock, apron or painting shirt<br />

lino cutting knives (1 handle with 5 different shaped blades) and craft knife<br />

<p>President 2009 &#8212; 2011</p>
<p>Don and Isabel Piggott have devoted nearly 25 years to the Ajax creative arts.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As president, Don led the club in many new directions. He encouraged us to start workshops and attended every class with Isabel.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We went on trips to galleries, museums even on painting trips in Canada and overseas.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Thank you Don for coming to our aid as president in 2009 – – 2011. Even though you really wanted a little quieter, more relaxed life. You helped us when we could not find anyone to take the helm.</p>

<p><strong>Christmas Party</strong></p>
<p>The Christmas Potluck dinner is on Thursday, December 15, 2011. 6:00 P.M. till 10:00 P.M. Bring food and, if you wish to participate in the give a gift/ get a gift exchange, please bring a wrapped art related  gift valued between $15 and $20,. you will receive one in return.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Please, if you can, bring an unwrapped gift for the toy box. The gift can be either for an adult or child &#8212; examples are soap, winter hats or mitts, toy etc.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>As well, everyone is requested to bring non-perishable food items for the good hamper(s). Or donate $5.00</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>These items will all be donated through the fire services to needy families.</p>
<p>For the Christmas party, be sure to bring your own cup, plate, utensils.</p>

<p>In case you have not noticed, we have a wonderful piece of artwork in the club doorway.</p>
<p>The new mural was the mural was created and painted by Michael Jack, Don Hightower and Maggie Burgess.</p>

<p>Thank you to all the artists who volunteered to work the show, especially our new members  who did cash register and Visa authorization, worked in the sales desk and did many extra shifts to cover the weekend.</p>

<p>A very special thanks to Kim Robertson and Cheryl Helferty, who logged all the sales into another computer, after mine lost its hard drive. I was very grateful for all the help,</p>

<p>On November 23rd, the club had a farewell cake and coffee/tea for Cyril Cox who is moving to Peterborough.</p>

<p>Cyril was presented with a small token of the club&#8217;s appreciation for his tireless patience with all of us looking over his shoulder. For his quiet instruction for beginner artists, giving them insight as to the wonders of oil and acrylic painting.</p>

<p>We hope that Cyril will be able to drop in to the club for a visit from time-to-time.</p>

<p><strong>Town of Ajax &#8212; St. Francis Center for Community Arts and Culture</strong></p>

<p>From 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, Don Hightower, Pam Auguste, Cheryl Bannister and Fred Smith displayed their paintings &#8212; loosely themed as heritage or culture.</p>

<p>This small show was held in the foyer. We acquainted the public with our art, provided information about Ajax Creative Arts and the October Art Show.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Many people attended and collected the show flyers. We gave out 40 show flyers and 40 membership forms.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>We shared the foyer with 400 delicious, decorated cupcakes, thanks to Cupcakes Canada. Nonalcoholic apple wine was served. There was a huge audience.</p>
